Your wedding is the coronation of your courtship and the first great communion of joy for your families and friends. It has to be memorable. You are excited, and a little afraid of forgetting something — that is the part we take off your hands.

The abbey has been a private house for nine centuries. Nothing here was built to receive a crowd and everything was built to receive guests, which is a different thing and turns out to be the right one.

A family home for centuries, the abbey welcomes your guests the way it has always welcomed them.

Few weddings: A handful each season, so that every one of them gets the whole house and the whole attention.
Every detail: From the logistics down to where the light falls at seven in the evening.
Your guests: They arrive as visitors and leave having been at somebody’s home.
The setting: Lawn, cloister, church and the great hall — you choose which room the day passes through.

We only welcome a few highly curated weddings per season. It is the reason the place still feels like a discovery.

Two kinds of day

Both of them worked because the day was theirs, and the house knew how to stay out of the way.

On the lawn: A long table across the grass at sunset, wild flowers colouring the day, and candles lighting up the laughter under a starry night.
In the cloister: The formality of the arches for the vows and the toast — and then, when the tables were cleared, the best dance party the abbey has hosted.
